This elementary school was built to replace the old Kingston Elementary School. The new building shares a site with the old school, which required extreme coordination efforts on behalf of the architect, administration, and contractor. Student safety was put first while the old facility was torn down and the new one constructed.
The new Kingston Elementary is a state-of-the-art facility that uses bright colors and custom designs to create a fun and stimulating learning environment. This school includes a music room, keyboard room, computer lab, science classroom, art classroom, and a high school size gymnasium with stage, among many other specialty areas. Natural light is incorporated throughout the facility to enhance learning.
Maintenance areas are located above the corridors to provide easy access without disturbing classes. This building is pre-engineered metal and utilizes a geothermal HVAC system designed for easy maintenance.
Kingston Elementary School was also the first school in Kentucky to utilize the Contractor/Supplier Bid Method. This bidding method was pioneered by Clotfelter/Samokar and saved Madison County Schools over $200,000 on this project!
